and through it, my honor was totally preserved. ||3||

bolaa-i-aa bolee tayraa.
I speak as You cause me to speak;

too saahib gunee gahayraa.
O Lord and Master, You are the ocean of excellence.

jap naanak naam sach saakhee.
Nanak chants the Naam, the Name of the Lord, according to the Teachings of Truth.

apunay daas kee paij raakhee. ||4||6||56||
God preserves the honor of His slaves. ||4||6||56||

vich kartaa purakh khalo-aa.
The Creator Lord Himself stood between us,

vaal na vingaa ho-aa.
and not a hair upon my head was touched.

mjnu gur AWdw rwsy ] (623-3)
majan gur aa^Ndaa raasay.
The Guru made my cleansing bath successful;

jip hir hir iklivK nwsy ]1] (623-3)
jap har har kilvikh naasay. ||1||
meditating on the Lord, Har, Har, my sins were erased. ||1||

santahu raamdaas sarovar neekaa.
O Saints, the purifying pool of Ram Das is sublime.

jo nwvY so kulu qrwvY auDwru hoAw hY jI kw ]1] rhwau ] (623-4)
jo naavai so kul taraavai uDhaar ho-aa hai jee kaa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Whoever bathes in it, his family and ancestry are saved, and his soul is saved as well. ||1||Pause||

jai jai kaar jag gaavai.
The world sings cheers of victory,

man chindi-arhay fal paavai.
and the fruits of his mind's desires are obtained.

sahee salaamat naa-ay aa-ay. apnaa parabhoo Dhi-aa-ay. ||2||
Whoever comes and bathes here, and meditates on his God, is safe and sound. ||2||

sant sarovar naavai.
One who bathes in the healing pool of the Saints,

so jan param gat paavai.
that humble being obtains the supreme status.

marai na aavai jaa-ee.
He does not die, or come and go in reincarnation;

har har naam Dhi-aa-ee. ||3||
he meditates on the Name of the Lord, Har, Har. ||3||

ih barahm bichaar so jaanai.
He alone knows this about God,

jis da-i-aal ho-ay bhagvaanai.
whom God blesses with His kindness.

baabaa naanak parabh sarnaa-ee.
Baba Nanak seeks the Sanctuary of God;

sabh chintaa ganat mitaa-ee. ||4||7||57||
all his worries and anxieties are dispelled. ||4||7||57||

The Supreme Lord God has stood by me and fulfilled me,

kaa-ee baat na rahee-aa ooree.
and nothing is left unfinished.

gur charan laa-ay nistaaray.
Attached to the Guru's feet, I am saved;

I contemplate and cherish the Name of the Lord, Har, Har. ||1||

apnay daas kaa sadaa rakhvaalaa.
He is forever the Savior of His slaves.

kar kirpaa apunay kar raakhay maat pitaa ji-o paalaa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Bestowing His Mercy, He made me His own and preserved me; like a mother or father, He cherishes me. ||1||Pause||

vadbhaagee satgur paa-i-aa.
By great good fortune, I found the True Guru,

jin jam kaa panth mitaa-i-aa.
who obliterated the path of the Messenger of Death.

hir Bgiq Bwie icqu lwgw ] (623-11)
har bhagat bhaa-ay chit laagaa.
My consciousness is focused on loving, devotional worship of the Lord.

jip jIvih sy vfBwgw ]2] (623-11)
jap jeeveh say vadbhaagaa. ||2||
One who lives in this meditation is very fortunate indeed. ||2||

har amrit banee gaavai.
He sings the Ambrosial Word of the Guru's Bani,

swDw kI DUrI nwvY ] (623-12)
saaDhaa kee Dhooree naavai.
and bathes in the dust of the feet of the Holy.

Apunw nwmu Awpy dIAw ] (623-12)
apunaa naam aapay dee-aa.
He Himself bestows His Name.

parabh karanhaar rakh lee-aa. ||3||
God, the Creator, saves us. ||3||

har darsan paraan aDhaaraa.
The Blessed Vision of the Lord's Darshan is the support of the breath of life.

ih pooran bimal beechaaraa.
This is the perfect, pure wisdom.

kar kirpaa antarjaamee.
The Inner-knower, the Searcher of hearts, has granted His Mercy;

slave Nanak seeks the Sanctuary of his Lord and Master. ||4||8||58||

gur poorai charnee laa-i-aa.
The Perfect Guru has attached me to His feet.

I have obtained the Lord as my companion, my support, my best friend.

jah jaa-ee-ai tahaa suhaylay.
Wherever I go, I am happy there.

kar kirpaa parabh maylay. ||1||
By His Kind Mercy, God united me with Himself. ||1||

har gun gaavhu sadaa subhaa-ee.
So sing forever the Glorious Praises of the Lord with loving devotion.

man chinday saglay fal paavhu jee-a kai sang sahaa-ee. ||1|| rahaa-o.
You shall obtain all the fruits of your mind's desires, and the Lord shall become the companion and the support of your soul. ||1||Pause||

naaraa-in paraan aDhaaraa.
The Lord is the support of the breath of life.

ham sant janaa^N raynaaraa.
I am the dust of the feet of the Holy people.

patit puneet kar leenay.
I am a sinner, but the Lord made me pure.

kar kirpaa har jas deenay. ||2||
By His Kind Mercy, the Lord blessed me with His Praises. ||2||

pwrbRhmu kry pRiqpwlw ] (623-17)
paarbarahm karay partipaalaa.
The Supreme Lord God cherishes and nurtures me.

sd jIA sMig rKvwlw ] (623-18)
sad jee-a sang rakhvaalaa.
He is always with me, the Protector of my soul.

hir idnu rYin kIrqnu gweIAY ] (623-18)
har din rain keertan gaa-ee-ai.
Singing the Kirtan of the Lord's Praises day and night,

bhuiV n jonI pweIAY ]3] (623-18)
bahurh na jonee paa-ee-ai. ||3||
I shall not be consigned to reincarnation again. ||3||

ijsu dyvY purKu ibDwqw ] (623-19)
jis dayvai purakh biDhaataa.
One who is blessed by the Primal Lord, the Architect of Destiny,

har ras tin hee jaataa.
realizes the subtle essence of the Lord.

jmkMkru nyiV n AwieAw ] (623-19)
jamkankar nayrh na aa-i-aa.
The Messenger of Death does not come near him.

sukh naanak sarnee paa-i-aa. ||4||9||59||
In the Lord's Sanctuary, Nanak has found peace. ||4||9||59||
