Remaining awake and aware night and day, lovingly focused on the Lord, jIvn mukiq giq AMqir pweI ]4] (904-4)jeevan mukat gat antar paa-ee. ||4|| one becomes Jivan Mukta - liberated while yet alive. He finds this state deep within himself. ||4|| Ailpq guPw mih rhih inrwry ] (904-5)alipat gufaa meh raheh niraaray. In the secluded cave, I remain unattached. qskr pMc sbid sMGwry ] (904-5)taskar panch sabad sanghaaray. The world is asleep; it dies, and comes and goes in reincarnation. ibnu gur sbd n soJI pwie ]6] (904-7)bin gur sabad na sojhee paa-ay. ||6|| Without the Word of the Guru's Shabad, it does not understand. ||6|| Anhd sbdu vjY idnu rwqI ] (904-7)anhad sabad vajai din raatee. The unstruck sound current of the Shabad vibrates day and night. Aivgq kI giq gurmuiK jwqI ] (904-8)avigat kee gat gurmukh jaatee. The Gurmukh knows the state of the eternal, unchanging Lord God. qau jwnI jw sbid pCwnI ] (904-8)ta-o jaanee jaa sabad pachhaanee. When someone realizes the Shabad, then he truly knows. eyko riv rihAw inrbwnI ]7] (904-8)ayko rav rahi-aa nirbaanee. ||7|| The One Lord is permeating and pervading everywhere in Nirvaanaa. ||7|| suMn smwiD shij mnu rwqw ] (904-9)sunn samaaDh sahj man raataa. My mind is intuitively absorbed in the state of deepest Samaadhi; qij hau loBw eyko jwqw ] (904-9)taj ha-o lobhaa ayko jaataa. renouncing egotism and greed, I have come to know the One Lord. gur cyly Apnw mnu mwinAw ] (904-9)gur chaylay apnaa man maani-aa. Do not tell lies, O Pandit; O religious scholar, speak the Truth. haumY jwie sbid Gru lhIAY ]1] rhwau ] (904-12)ha-umai jaa-ay sabad ghar lahee-ai. ||1|| rahaa-o. You study the arguments, but do not contemplate the Vedas. Awip fubY ikau ipqrw qwrY ] (904-15)aap dubai ki-o pitraa taarai. You drown yourself - how will you save your ancestors? How rare is that person who realizes that God is in each and every heart. siqguru imlY q soJI hoie ]4] (904-16)satgur milai ta sojhee ho-ay. ||4|| When one meets the True Guru, then he understands. ||4|| gxq gxIAY shsw duKu jIAY ] (904-16)ganat ganee-ai sahsaa dukh jee-ai. Making his calculations, cynicism and suffering afflict his soul. gur kI srix pvY suKu QIAY ] (904-16)gur kee saran pavai sukh thee-ai. Seeking the Sanctuary of the Guru, peace is found. kir AprwD srix hm AwieAw ] (904-17)kar apraaDh saran ham aa-i-aa. I sinned and made mistakes, but now I seek Your Sanctuary. gur hir Byty purib kmwieAw ]5] (904-17)gur har bhaytay purab kamaa-i-aa. ||5|| The Guru led me to meet the Lord, according to my past actions. ||5|| gur srix n AweIAY bRhmu n pweIAY ] (904-18)gur saran na aa-ee-ai barahm na paa-ee-ai. If one does not enter the Guru's Sanctuary, God cannot be found. Brim BulweIAY jnim mir AweIAY ] (904-18)bharam bhulaa-ee-ai janam mar aa-ee-ai. Deluded by doubt, one is born, only to die, and come back again. jm dir bwDau mrY ibkwru ] (904-18)jam dar baaDha-o marai bikaar. Dying in corruption, he is bound and gagged at Death's door. nw irdY nwmu n sbdu Acwru ]6] (904-19)naa ridai naam na sabad achaar. ||6|| The Naam, the Name of the Lord, is not in his heart, and he does not act according to the Shabad. ||6|| ieik pwDy pMifq imsr khwvih ] (904-19)ik paaDhay pandit misar kahaaveh. Some call themselves Pandits, religious scholars and spiritual teachers. duibDw rwqy mhlu n pwvih ] (904-19)dubiDhaa raatay mahal na paavahi.
