duKIAw drd Gxy vydn jwxy qU DxI ] (1097-1)
dukhee-aa darad ghanay vaydan jaanay too Dhanee.
The miserable endure so much suffering and pain; You alone know their pain, Lord.

jaanaa lakh bhavay piree dikhando taa jeevsaa. ||2||
I may know hundreds of thousands of remedies, but I shall live only if I see my Husband Lord. ||2||

FhdI jwie krwir vhix vhMdy mY ifiTAw ] (1097-2)
dhahdee jaa-ay karaar vahan vahanday mai dithi-aa.
I have seen the river-bank washed away by the raging waters of the river.

syeI rhy Amwx ijnw siqguru ByitAw ]3] (1097-2)
say-ee rahay amaan jinaa satgur bhayti-aa. ||3||
They alone remain intact, who meet with the True Guru. ||3||

ijsu jn qyrI BuK hY iqsu duKu n ivAwpY ] (1097-3)
jis jan tayree bhukh hai tis dukh na vi-aapai.
No pain afflicts that humble being who hungers for You, Lord.

ijin jin gurmuiK buiJAw su chu kuMfI jwpY ] (1097-3)
jin jan gurmukh bujhi-aa so chahu kundee jaapai.
That humble Gurmukh who understands, is celebrated in the four directions.

jo nru aus kI srxI prY iqsu kMbih pwpY ] (1097-4)
jo nar us kee sarnee parai tis kambeh paapai.
Sins run away from that man, who seeks the Sanctuary of the Lord.

jnm jnm kI mlu auqrY gur DUVI nwpY ] (1097-4)
janam janam kee mal utrai gur Dhoorhee naapai.
The filth of countless incarnations is washed away, bathing in the dust of the Guru's feet.

ijin hir Bwxw mMinAw iqsu sogu n sMqwpY ] (1097-5)
jin har bhaanaa mani-aa tis sog na santaapai.
Whoever submits to the Lord's Will does not suffer in sorrow.

hir jIau qU sBnw kw imqu hY siB jwxih AwpY ] (1097-5)
har jee-o too sabhnaa kaa mit hai sabh jaaneh aapai.
O Dear Lord, You are the friend of all; all believe that You are theirs.

AYsI soBw jnY kI jyvfu hir prqwpY ] (1097-6)
aisee sobhaa janai kee jayvad har partaapai.
The glory of the Lord's humble servant is as great as the Glorious Radiance of the Lord.

sabh antar jan vartaa-i-aa har jan tay jaapai. ||8||
Among all, His humble servant is pre-eminent; through His humble servant, the Lord is known. ||8||

ijnw ipCY hau geI sy mY ipCY BI rivAwsu ] (1097-7)
jinaa pichhai ha-o ga-ee say mai pichhai bhee ravi-aas.
Those whom I followed, now follow me.

ijnw kI mY AwsVI iqnw mihjI Aws ]1] (1097-7)
jinaa kee mai aasrhee tinaa mahijee aas. ||1||
Those in whom I placed my hopes, now place their hopes in me. ||1||

iglI iglI rofVI BaudI Biv Biv Awie ] (1097-8)
gilee gilee rodrhee bha-udee bhav bhav aa-ay.
The fly flies around, and comes to the wet lump of molasses.

jo bYTy sy PwiQAw aubry Bwg mQwie ]2] (1097-8)
jo baithay say faathi-aa ubray bhaag mathaa-ay. ||2||
Whoever sits on it, is caught; they alone are saved, who have good destiny on their foreheads. ||2||

dithaa habh majhaahi khaalee ko-ay na jaanee-ai.
I see Him within all. No one is without Him.

tai sakhee bhaag mathaahi jinee mayraa sajan raavi-aa. ||3||
Good destiny is inscribed on the forehead of that companion, who who enjoys the Lord, my Friend. ||3||

ha-o dhaadhee dar gun gaavdaa jay har parabh bhaavai.
I am a minstrel at His Door, singing His Glorious Praises, to please to my Lord God.

pRBu myrw iQr QwvrI hor AwvY jwvY ] (1097-10)
parabh mayraa thir thaavree hor aavai jaavai.
My God is permanent and stable; others continue coming and going.

so mMgw dwnu guosweIAw ijqu BuK lih jwvY ] (1097-11)
so mangaa daan gosaa-ee-aa jit bhukh leh jaavai.
I beg for that gift from the Lord of the World, which will satisfy my hunger.

pRB jIau dyvhu drsnu Awpxw ijqu FwFI iqRpqwvY ] (1097-11)
parabh jee-o dayvhu darsan aapnaa jit dhaadhee tariptaavai.
O Dear Lord God, please bless Your minstrel with the Blessed Vision of Your Darshan, that I might be satisfied and fulfilled.

ardaas sunee daataar parabh dhaadhee ka-o mahal bulaavai.
God, the Great Giver, hears the prayer, and summons the minstrel to the Mansion of His Presence.

pRB dyKidAw duK BuK geI FwFI kau mMgxu iciq n AwvY ] (1097-12)
parabh daykh-di-aa dukh bhukh ga-ee dhaadhee ka-o mangan chit na aavai.
Gazing upon God, the minstrel is rid of pain and hunger; he does not think to ask for anything else.

sabhay ichhaa pooree-aa lag parabh kai paavai.
All desires are fulfilled, touching the feet of God.

hau inrguxu FwFI bKisEnu pRiB puriK vydwvY ]9] (1097-13)
ha-o nirgun dhaadhee bakhsi-on parabh purakh vaidaavai. ||9||
I am His humble, unworthy minstrel; the Primal Lord God has forgiven me. ||9||

jaa chhutay taa khaak too sunjee kant na jaanhee.
When the soul leaves, you shall become dust, O vacant body; why do you not realize your Husband Lord?

durjn syqI nyhu qU kY guix hir rMgu mwxhI ]1] (1097-14)
durjan saytee nayhu too kai gun har rang maanhee. ||1||
You are in love with evil people; by what virtues will you enjoy the Lord's Love? ||1||

naanak jis bin gharhee na jeevnaa visray sarai na bind.
O Nanak, without Him, you cannot survive, even for an instant; you cannot afford to forget Him, even for a moment.

iqsu isau ikau mn rUsIAY ijsih hmwrI icMd ]2] (1097-15)
tis si-o ki-o man roosee-ai jisahi hamaaree chind. ||2||
Why are you alienated from Him, O my mind? He takes care of you. ||2||

rqy rMig pwrbRhm kY mnu qnu Aiq gulwlu ] (1097-16)
ratay rang paarbarahm kai man tan at gulaal.
Those who are imbued with the Love of the Supreme Lord God, their minds and bodies are colored deep crimson.

nwnk ivxu nwvY AwlUidAw ijqI horu iKAwlu ]3] (1097-17)
naanak vin naavai aaloodi-aa jitee hor khi-aal. ||3||
O Nanak, without the Name, other thoughts are polluted and corrupt. ||3||

har jee-o jaa too mayraa mitar hai taa ki-aa mai kaarhaa.
O Dear Lord, when You are my friend, what sorrow can afflict me?

jinee thagee jag thagi-aa say tuDh maar nivaarhaa.
You have beaten off and destroyed the cheats that cheat the world.

guir Baujlu pwir lµGwieAw ijqw pwvwVw ] (1097-18)
gur bha-ojal paar langhaa-i-aa jitaa paavaarhaa.
The Guru has carried me across the terrifying world-ocean, and I have won the battle.

gurmqI siB rs Bogdw vfw AwKwVw ] (1097-19)
gurmatee sabh ras bhogdaa vadaa aakhaarhaa.
Through the Guru's Teachings, I enjoy all the pleasures in the great world-arena.

sabh indree-aa vas kar ditee-o satvantaa saarhaa.
The True Lord has brought all my senses and organs under my control.
