God does not ask about social class or birth; you must find your true home. sw jwiq sw piq hY jyhy krm kmwie ] (1330-8)saa jaat saa pat hai jayhay karam kamaa-ay. Prabhaatee, First Mehl: jwgqu ibgsY mUTo AMDw ] (1330-9)jaagat bigsai mootho anDhaa. He is awake, and even happy, but he is being plundered - he is blind! gil PwhI isir mwry DMDw ] (1330-10)gal faahee sir maaray DhanDhaa. The noose is around his neck, and yet, his head is busy with worldly affairs. Awsw AwvY mnsw jwie ] (1330-10)aasaa aavai mansaa jaa-ay. In hope, he comes and in desire, he leaves. aurJI qwxI ikCu n bswie ]1] (1330-10)urjhee taanee kichh na basaa-ay. ||1|| The strings of his life are all tangled up; he is utterly helpless. ||1|| jwgis jIvx jwgxhwrw ] (1330-11)jaagas jeevan jaaganhaaraa. The Lord of Awareness, the Lord of Life is awake and aware. suK swgr AMimRq BMfwrw ]1] rhwau ] (1330-11)sukh saagar amrit bhandaaraa. ||1|| rahaa-o. He is the Ocean of peace, the Treasure of Ambrosial Nectar. ||1||Pause|| kihE n bUJY AMDu n sUJY BoNfI kwr kmweI ] (1330-11)kahi-o na boojhai anDh na soojhai bhoNdee kaar kamaa-ee. He does not understand what he is told; he is blind - he does not see, and so he does his evil deeds. Awpy pRIiq pRym prmysuru krmI imlY vfweI ]2] (1330-12)aapay pareet paraym parmaysur karmee milai vadaa-ee. ||2|| The Transcendent Lord Himself showers His Love and Affection; by His Grace, He bestows glorious greatness. ||2|| idnu idnu AwvY iqlu iqlu CIjY mwieAw mohu GtweI ] (1330-12)din din aavai til til chheejai maa-i-aa moh ghataa-ee. With the coming of each and every day, his life is wearing away, bit by bit; but still, his heart is attached to Maya. ibnu gur bUfo Taur n pwvY jb lg dUjI rweI ]3] (1330-13)bin gur boodo tha-ur na paavai jab lag doojee raa-ee. ||3|| Without the Guru, he is drowned, and finds no place of rest, as long as he is caught in duality. ||3|| Aihinis jIAw dyiK sm@wlY suKu duKu purib kmweI ] (1330-13)ahinis jee-aa daykh samHaalai sukh dukh purab kamaa-ee. Day and night, God watches over and takes care of His living beings; they receive pleasure and pain according to their past actions. krmhIxu scu BIiKAw mWgY nwnk imlY vfweI ]4]11] (1330-14)karamheen sach bheekhi-aa maaNgai naanak milai vadaa-ee. ||4||11|| Nanak, the unfortunate one, begs for the charity of Truth; please bless him with this glory. ||4||11|| pRBwqI mhlw 1 ] (1330-15)parbhaatee mehlaa 1. Prabhaatee, First Mehl: msit krau mUrKu jig khIAw ] (1330-15)masat kara-o moorakh jag kahee-aa. If I remain silent, the world calls me a fool. AiDk bkau qyrI ilv rhIAw ] (1330-15)aDhik baka-o tayree liv rahee-aa. If I talk too much, I miss out on Your Love. BUl cUk qyrY drbwir ] (1330-16)bhool chook tayrai darbaar. My mistakes and faults will be judged in Your Court. nwm ibnw kYsy Awcwr ]1] (1330-16)naam binaa kaisay aachaar. ||1|| Without the Naam, the Name of the Lord, how can I maintain good conduct? ||1|| AYsy JUiT muTy sMswrw ] (1330-16)aisay jhooth muthay sansaaraa. Such is the falsehood which is plundering the world. inMdku inMdY muJY ipAwrw ]1] rhwau ] (1330-16)nindak nindai mujhai pi-aaraa. ||1|| rahaa-o. The slanderer slanders me, but even so, I love him. ||1||Pause|| ijsu inMdih soeI ibiD jwxY ] (1330-17)jis nindeh so-ee biDh jaanai. He alone knows the way, who has been slandered. gur kY sbdy dir nIswxY ] (1330-17)gur kai sabday dar neesaanai. Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, he is stamped with the Lord's Insignia in His Court. kwrx nwmu AMqrgiq jwxY ] (1330-17)kaaran naam antargat jaanai. He realizes the Naam, the Cause of causes, deep within himself. ijs no ndir kry soeI ibiD jwxY ]2] (1330-18)jis no nadar karay so-ee biDh jaanai. ||2|| He alone knows the way, who is blessed by the Lord's Glance of Grace. ||2|| mY mYlO aUjlu scu soie ] (1330-18)mai mailou oojal sach so-ay. I am filthy and polluted; the True Lord is Immaculate and Sublime. aUqmu AwiK n aUcw hoie ] (1330-18)ootam aakh na oochaa ho-ay. Calling oneself sublime, one does not become exalted. mnmuKu KUil@ mhw ibKu Kwie ] (1330-19)manmukh khooliH mahaa bikh khaa-ay. The self-willed manmukh openly eats the great poison. gurmuiK hoie su rwcY nwie ]3] (1330-19)gurmukh ho-ay so raachai naa-ay. ||3|| But one who becomes Gurmukh is absorbed in the Name. ||3|| AMDO bolO mugDu gvwru ] (1330-19)anDhou bolou mugaDh gavaar.
